This is a volunteer, community involvement opportunity to support the 2023 Bike Rodeo at Torrance Walteria Elementary School. The time commitment is Wednesday afternoon 12:30-4pm. Your Club President and Vice President will be there, we urge you to join us.

Description from the organizers:

3rd-5th grade students are graded on a written test and skills course, in a friendly competition. The competition makes it fun and engaging for the kids, but the primary goal is to get the kids thinking about safety and preparing them for that important next step of getting out in the real world on their bikes.

The first and second place winners in each grade and gender go on to compete at a district level in May.

Volunteers assist the Bike Rodeo organizers with both the written test and skills test administration.

Location: Walteria Elementary School, 24456 Madison Street, Torrance CA 90505

Vehicle Parking: No onsite parking, but there is plenty of neighborhood street parking

Entry: via main office on Madison Street

Bike arrivals: "volunteers would be welcome to bring their bicycles on to campus with them and park them near the event where they could keep an eye on them, or we could set them up inside a nearby classroom" (Room 29)

Schedule:

12:30-1pm - Arrive at school grounds, perform intake (bring your government ID)

1:00pm-2:15pm – Set-up course

2:15pm-2:30pm – Riders Check In

2:30pm-3:00pm – Safety Talk (sometimes done by Local Police Officer), Administer written exam

3:00pm-4:00pm – Demonstration of course and rotation of stages on course
